Yellow Ant
( Acanthomyops spp.) - Yellow ants are light to dark brown,and about .25 in. long. The winged females are somewhat bigger, and the wings are clear to pale yellow. Nests may be located in soil next to foundations or sidewalks. \r\n

Yellow ants remain in their nests most of the time. They feed on the honeydew from aphids and other insects on the roots of plants. Nest produce swarms during the spring and these may be confused with termite swarms.
