Carpenter Ant
( Camponotus spp.) - These ants are .25 to .5 inch long, and may be black or red. The antennae are long. Worker ants may be seen inside throughout the year. The large, winged queens appear in the spring. \r\n

"Biography"
Nests are usually located in damp, damaged wood, but they can infest good wood. The workers forage for food inside in early spring, then move outside to feed on insects. Colonies located inside usually become active about February and March. \r\n

Treatment
Locating the nest is the first step in controling them. Inspect for water leaks and damaged wood, and remove the wood and repair any water leaks. Baits can be effective whereas spraying may not. \r\n
