About W. Fred Eddinger
I’m W. Fred Eddinger, a lifelong entrepreneur born in Springfield and now based in Florida. Over the years, I’ve built my career across sales, franchising, and business ownership before finding my passion in the pest control industry. From starting as a technician to founding my own companies and training programs, my journey has been driven by hard work, growth, and helping others succeed.
My Story
I was born on October 8, 1943, in Springfield, Massachusetts. My father is William Niel Eddinger, originally from Lenoir, North Carolina, and my mother, Gloria Murphy, is from Springfield, Massachusetts. My parents divorced when I was an infant, and my mother later married my stepfather, Thomas Doyle, who became the most influential mentor in my life. They were married for over 60 years.
Although I grew up in Springfield, I spent many years in Florida and eventually settled there in 1975. I graduated from South Hadley High School in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
My business experience spans over 20 years and includes door-to-door sales as a former Fuller Brush salesman, insurance sales, operating a Dunkin’ Donuts franchise, and owning a janitorial service. While working with Fuller Brush, I attended sales and management classes, and I also completed training at Dunkin’ Donuts University.
I furthered my education at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Florida, where I specialized in turf grass management courses.
In 1979, acting on the advice of a dear friend and former business associate, I entered the pest control business. I started as a technician and worked my way up to Vice President of Harrison Exterminating, owned by the late Warren Harrison. I first met Warren in 1968, and we remained close for over 32 years. Then, in 1990, Warren merged with his company with mine.
In 1982, he decided to start Pioneer Pest Control. In 1984, I developed the Pioneer Employment Program which allowed people to come into the pest control business as much as an 80% commission while building their own routes. This program met with great success.
In 1991, I formed the ‘Pest Control Education Center’, offering an unparalleled 3 day training program for pest control technicians. In addition, I offer continuing education to certified pest control operator from various pest control companies throughout the state of Florida.
I am certified to teach continuing education by the state of Florida as well as Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
In 1992, Eddinger was certified by the State of Florida and many neighboring states to offer CEU classes to certified pest control operators.
In 1995, he started Clean Way Affordable Pest Control and changed its name to Eddinger’s Pest Control Inc. in 2000.
